Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Machine

The Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Machine 29885 is one of the newer Hamilton models that’s been released in the past few years. This updated model has tons of new settings that we’re going to discuss in depth.

This bread machine has a nice modern design. The top and bottom of the machine are a black plastic shell while the rest of the bread machine is made of brushed stainless steel.

This design is compact and lightweight so you can move it around your kitchen whenever you need to.

It has an extra large viewing window on the lid. This extra large window is great for checking in on your bread as it kneads, rises, and bakes.

On the top of the Hamilton bread machine there are easy to press buttons and an LCD display. The display shows a countdown time to when your bread will be finished baking.

Included is both a measuring cup and measuring spoon to measure out your ingredients accurately before placing them in the bread pan.

It also comes with an instruction manual that includes easy recipes for each setting the machine has. This manual includes an accurate timetable for all 14 settings too.

The 14 Settings:

  • Basic
  • French
  • Gluten Free

The Other Features

The Other Features
  • Using the Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Machine 29885 is an easy 3 step process. Open the lid, drop in the ingredients (wet ingredients first and dry second), and choose your settings.
  • The interior of the bread machine is nonstick so there’s less to clean up when you’re done baking.
  • The bread pan is removable making taking the baked bread out of the machine much easier. It’s also nonstick and dishwasher safe.
  • It uses a single kneading paddle. The kneading paddle has a paddle removing tool in the form of a hook. This makes it so you can remove the paddle after the kneading process so it doesn’t get baked into your bread.
  • The machine has a built-in timer. This timer has a 15 hour delay so you can push your baking time back as needed.
  • This timer will beep when it’s time to add any extra ingredients like nuts and it also beeps when your bread is done baking.
  • Once the setting is completed, you remove the bread dough to shape it. Then you can throw it into you oven for yummy and creative artisan bread.
  • The “Gluten Free” option ensures that the dough isn’t over-mixed or over-baked, which can be common when following gluten-free recipes.
  • The “Quick Bread” setting bakes your bread in under an hour and 20 minutes.
  • It has a “Keep Warm” setting to keep your bread warm after it’s done baking. This gives you time before pulling your bread out of the machine.

What Do Others Have to Say?

What Do Others Have to Say

The Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Maker 29885 is a big hit among bread lovers. The upgraded model is rich in features, including features for healthier bread solutions for you and your family. We give this bread machine a strong 4 and a half stars out of 5.

The most cited advantages of the Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Machine 2885:

  • This Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Maker has a whopping 14 settings to choose from, including an “Artisan” setting that you can get creative with and a “Gluten Free” setting for those who are allergic to gluten, who have celiac disease, or who have a gluten intolerance.
  • This bread machine is much more lightweight than most machines. It only weighs 10 pounds. It’s 16 inches in length, 10 inches in width, and 10 inches in height. You can move it around your kitchen and even store it if you need counter space
  • People who have bought this bread machine have reported that it’s extremely easy to clean. You can easily remove the bread pan and the kneading paddle, both of which are dishwasher safe.
The stainless steel also makes it easy to just wipe away any mess.
  • Bakers are amazed at the high quality machine for such an affordable price. Most machines with features like these run at much higher costs in the market.

The most cited disadvantages of the Hamilton Beach Programmable Bread Machine 2885:

  • Even with all the fantastic settings, customers are a little disappointed that the Hamilton Programmable Bread Maker has a smaller bread pan. This means no baking longer loaves of bread like baguettes.
  • Since the bread machine is so lightweight, it vibrates across the counter while kneading the dough.
  • A few have complained that the bread maker gets loud also during the kneading process.
  • The biggest complaint from bread bakers is that there’s no notification when the kneading process is finished.
This means you have to check multiple times to see if the bread is done kneading so you can remove the kneading paddles. If you don’t, the paddle will get stuck in your bread.
  • The lid on the bread machine is flimsy and has broken off for a handful of customers.

Final Thoughts

The Hamilton brand stays true to producing high quality products. If you’re an advanced bread baker ready to expand your delicious horizons, this bread machine is perfect for you.
